Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Visits Soldiers’ Families and Displaced Civilians

Phnom penh: Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Samdech Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal on Thursday met with families of frontline soldiers, displaced people, and vulnerable residents in Chulkiri district, Kampong Chhnang province, offering words of encouragement and humanitarian assistance. Samdech Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal, who also serves as Minister of the Royal Palace, made the visit on Dec. 18 accompanied by Kampong Chhnang leaders and other officials.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during his speech to residents, Samdech Kuy Sophal emphasized national unity and solidarity during a period of hardship caused by renewed tensions along the Cambodia-Thailand border. He stated that the Royal Government had prioritized providing safe shelter and basic support to civilians forced to flee their homes due to the security situation.

He highlighted that displaced residents who had traveled to Phnom Penh and other provinces expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet for arranging free bus transport and food assistance, which were aimed at easing the burden on families affected by the displacement.

Samdech Kuy Sophal also extended gratitude to local communities and donors for their efforts in mobilizing funds, supplies, and moral support for frontline troops, soldiers' families, displaced people, and other vulnerable groups, describing it as a collective contribution by the broader Cambodian public.

During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister and accompanying officials distributed relief packages to 150 households, each receiving rice, fish sauce, soy sauce, canned fish, drinking water, a mosquito net, a blanket, a traditional scarf, and a cash allowance.
