Phnom penh: Cambodia's international trade totaled US$23.38 billion in the first four months of 2026, an increase of 19.9 percent from US$19.5 billion recorded during the same period last year, a report from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia showed on May 11.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, between January and April, the Kingdom exported US$11.12 billion worth of goods, a year-on-year increase of 23.7 percent, while imports rose by 18.3 percent to US$12.26 billion. The United States, Vietnam, Japan, and China remained Cambodia's leading export destinations.
H.E. Penn Sovicheat, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, stated that Cambodia's expanding network of regional and bilateral trade agreements had contributed significantly to export growth. He remarked that these agreements have served as catalysts for long-term, sustainable export growth by providing preferential tariffs for Cambodian products.
Mr. Anthony Galliano, Group CEO of Cambodian Investment Management Holdings, commented on Cambodia's export-driven economy, highlighting its resilience amid a turbulent global environment. He noted that the strong growth in exports reflects the continued strength of Cambodia's manufacturing sector, particularly garments, footwear, and travel goods.
Additionally, Mr. Galliano mentioned that Cambodia is making progress in diversifying its industrial base through the expansion of electronics, electrical appliances, automotive parts, and tyre manufacturing. The Kingdom primarily exports garments, footwear, travel goods, electronic components, bicycles, tyres, and agricultural products, while importing raw materials for manufacturing, petroleum, vehicles, and electronics.
