Escalation of Tensions: Thai Military Operations Reported Along Cambodia-Thailand Border

Phnom penh: A series of military operations were reported along the Cambodia-Thailand border in Military Region 5 on December 12. The timeline provided by the Defence Ministry outlines a series of actions taken by the Thai military starting from early morning until early afternoon.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Thai military initiated its operations at 08:38 a.m. when infantry troops, supported by tanks, entered the Prey Chan village area. Subsequently, at 09:10 a.m., a reconnaissance drone was deployed to assess the situation in the same area.

The operations intensified by 10:26 a.m. as bomb-equipped drones were used to target the area of O'Phluok Damrey. Another reconnaissance drone was sent into Prey Chan at 10:34 a.m. to continue monitoring the situation. The report further indicates that toxic gas was used in Prey Chan village at 11:37 a.m.

Following this, another bombing operation was conducted at 11:58 a.m. targeting O'Phluok Damrey. The Thai military reportedly used toxic gas again at 12:13 p.m., affecting both Prey Chan village and Chouk Chey village. By 12:45 p.m., a reconnaissance drone was once more deployed over Prey Chan village.

The sequence of events concluded with the firing of shells into Prey Chan village at 12:53 p.m., marking the end of the reported military operations within the given timeframe. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate the aftermath of these actions.
