Guangxi: An international delegation of journalists from 15 countries, including Cambodia's state news agency AKP, recently completed a four-day tour of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The delegation witnessed the final construction phases of the landmark Pinglu Canal.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the visit from June 13 to 16, 2026, the international media delegation toured the Madao Hub of the Pinglu Canal. The mega-infrastructure project, which achieved full-channel water connectivity earlier this month, is on track for its official launch this September. It is being hailed as a transformative driver of trade and logistics between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
During a welcoming event hosted by the CPC Qinzhou Committee and the Publicity Department, media representatives from the 15 countries of the CIPCC programme gathered at Tianjiao International Hotel. The event aimed to strengthen exchanges and provide a deeper understanding of Guangxi's development. Mr. Zeng Zhi, Director General of the Publicity Department of the CPC Qinzhou Committee, emphasized the importance of friendship, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding. He noted that although journalists came from different countries and media organizations, they shared a common mission to report truthfully, promote friendship, and encourage mutual learning among civilizations.
The delegation also visited the Smart Port Innovation Centre of Beibu Gulf Port and Jiangsu Chinagreen Biological Technology, which exports various types of mushrooms to Cambodia. These visits provided insight into Guangxi's achievements in infrastructure, technology, tourism, and international cooperation.
