Samdech Techo Hun Sen Calls for Enhanced Cambodia-Belarus Defence and Bilateral Cooperation

Phnom penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has stressed the need to bolster and expand bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and the Republic of Belarus. The focus is on national defence and other key areas to further consolidate ties between the two nations.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the statement was made during a courtesy call and working meeting with H.E. Uladzimir Baravikou, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Cambodia. The meeting took place at the Senate's Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh.

During discussions, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reiterated the strong relations between Cambodia and Belarus, expressing optimism that the Ambassador's tenure in Cambodia would contribute to more comprehensive bilateral cooperation.

In response, the Belarusian Ambassador expressed gratitude for the meeting and recalled the long-standing relations between the countries. He mentioned Samdech Techo's previous visit to Belarus in 2014, which strengthened bilateral ties.

The Ambassador pointed out shared objectives in various fields and suggested further cooperation, especially in economic and trade sectors. He proposed investment in agricultural machinery to aid Cambodia's agricultural development.

Additionally, the Ambassador advocated for collaboration in civil service and parliamentary exchanges, direct flight connectivity, and enhanced scholarship and student exchange opportunities.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen appreciated the Ambassador's proposals, particularly those aimed at increasing trade, economic cooperation, and investment. He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in national defence and other sectors to ensure a robust bilateral relationship.
