Phnom Penh:Cambodia's Ministry of Information and digital media platform The Better Cambodia have outlined a partnership focusing on boosting the nation's brand and visibility among international audiences through four strategic areas of cooperation.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the collaboration will support initiatives by The Better Cambodia, facilitate legal access to state media content, promote international tourism, and advance human resource development. The strategic directions were discussed during a bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Information, attended by Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra, The Better Cambodia founder Mr. Surya Narayan, and co-founder Ms. Dhanita Nair.
The Minister expressed readiness to support the platform's operations and called for formal cooperation frameworks with state media institutions. This involves granting legal rights to use content from official outlets like Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) and National Television of Cambodia (TVK). He suggested that The Better Cambodia finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with these entities to formalize content-sharing arrangements.
Minister H.E. Neth Pheaktra also emphasized the importance of utilizing official data and multimedia assets on government policies, socio-economic developments, and tourism to project a dynamic image of modern Cambodia globally. He highlighted India's potential as a source market for tourism due to cultural and historical ties and encouraged increased coverage of shared heritage to boost Indian tourism.
In response, Mr. Surya Narayan explained that The Better Cambodia, established in 2023, aims to showcase the nation's potential and investment opportunities to an international audience. The platform attracts approximately 60,000 monthly readers, mainly from India, Singapore, and the United States, and facilitates business connections between Cambodian and Indian enterprises, particularly in agriculture and healthcare.
Co-founder Ms. Dhanita Nair elaborated on ongoing initiatives to enhance workforce capability and align vocational training with international standards. The Minister welcomed these efforts and noted plans to coordinate training programs with Indian institutions for Ministry officials and local journalists.
Both parties agreed to maintain communication to develop action plans across the four priority areas and plan to finalize a formal partnership agreement to enhance Cambodia's global communications strategy.
