Phnom Penh:Cambodia and Cuba are exploring opportunities to further expand bilateral cooperation, with a focus on agriculture and healthcare.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussions occurred during a meeting between Samdech Maha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and H.E. Mrs. Milena Caridad Zaldivar Piedra, Ambassador of Cuba to Cambodia, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on September 23.
The Cuban Ambassador praised the longstanding cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing Cambodia's consistent support for Cuba. She affirmed her commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the historical relations between the two countries, citing their continued strength since the period following Cambodia's liberation from the Khmer Rouge regime. He expressed optimism about expanding cooperation into new areas, particularly agriculture and healthcare.
The meeting concluded with discussions on potential partnerships in education, culture, and tourism, as well as mutual support in international forums. The Prime Minister encouraged ongoing engagement with relevant ministries to explore further opportunities for collaboration.
